उद्यापासून भारत आणि वेस्ट इंडिजची एकदिवसीय सामन्यांची मालिका सुरू होणार आहे. ही वनडे मालिका अहमदाबादमधील नरेंद्र मोदी या स्टेडियमवर पहिला सामना खेळला जाणार आहे. रोहित शर्मा आणि ईशान किशनची जोडी सलामीला मैदानावर उतरणार आहे.

सामन्याआधी संघात कोरोनाचा शिरकाव झाला. शिखर धवन, श्रेयस अय्यर आणि  ऋतुराज गायकवाड यांना कोरोनाची लागण झाली.  उद्या होणार्‍या पहिल्या वनडे आणि त्यांच्यानंतर खेळल्या जाणाऱ्या वनडे सामनाही या खेळाडूंना खेळता येणार नाही. शिखर धवन आणि रोहित शर्माची जोडी सलामीला मैदानावर उतरणार होती मात्र शिखर धवनला कोरोना झाला आणि  राहुलही पहिल्या सामन्याला मुकणार आहे. त्यामुळे सलामीच्या जागेचा प्रश्न उपस्थित झाला होता. मयंक अग्रवालची संघात निवड करण्यात आली, त्याचंबरोबरीने ईशान किशनची निवड करण्यात आली आहे.

मयंकचा अनुभव लक्षात घेता रोहित शर्मा सलामीची संधी त्याला देईल, अशी चर्चा होती मात्र मयंकला संधी मिळणार नाही. त्याच्या जागी ईशान रोहितच्या बरोबर मैदानात येणार आहे. हीच जोडी आयपीएलमध्ये मुंबई इंडियन्स या संघाद्वारे सलामीला मैदानावर येत होती.रोहितसोबत ईशाननेच सलामीला मैदानावर यावं असे मत माजी क्रिकेटर सबा करीम यांनी व्यक्त केले होते. काही खेळाडूंना संसर्ग झाल्याने तुमच्याकडे पर्याय उपलब्ध नाही. त्यामुळे तुमचा संघ खचु शकतो असे वक्तव्य त्यांनी केले होते.
